Linda Barry wanted to continue to remain active. West Wood Health & Fitness Center is on her way home from work, so for her, there was no excuse to not stop and exercise.
“I struggle with being comfortable in the weight area. My sister mentioned a long time ago that West Wood had a weight room for women which would be nice. Honestly, at first, I felt a bit uncomfortable thinking I was being judged. However, all members and staff were very friendly and helpful,” said Linda.
Linda has grown very comfortable at West Wood over time. The trainers she met with were very helpful and encouraging. There are several machines that she enjoys using and the front desk staff always makes her feel very welcome (especially Olivia).
“I have been able to minimize my weight during a life changing time of my life and appreciate that. However, I exercise more to relieve stress, perk myself up after work and to try to maintain memory\brain function for the future. My parents had dementia and Alzheimer’s and I’m hoping to stay as mentally sharp as I can for as long as I can. The majority of our children exercise regularly. Also, working out with my spouse helps to keep us both supportive and motivate the other to keep going. On workdays, it’s so helpful to go out workout and feel rejuvenated for the evening.”
