News Feature: Fitness Coordinator Maddie Goetsch

In a recent segment by Spectrum News 1, ProHealth West Wood Health & Fitness Center Fitness Coordinator Maddie Goetsch is featured promoting the importance of exercise for heart health.

Importance of cardiovascular activity.

Heart health is a leading concern for many Americans, and that’s why the American Heart Association recommends consistent aerobic activity to keep yourself healthy. The current guidelines state that individuals should strive for 150 minutes of aerobic activity per week, 75 minutes of vigorous aerobic activity, or a combination of the two.

“Both cardiovascular and strength exercise are some of the most researched ways to improve all measures of health,” Maddie says. That’s why she and the West Wood staff believe that cardiovascular activity is so important. “Fitness affects all aspects of our lives, and we have the power to improve that, no matter what our starting point is.”

“I was super proud to represent West Wood on the news, just as I am proud to work in the facility,” Maddie says when asked how she felt being interviewed. Whenever you see Maddie around the facility, you’ll see her with a smiling face and positive attitude. “We have tons of awesome members and staff that make West Wood what it is and make it fun to go to work every day. They’re really the ones who deserve the spotlight,” she laughs.

She goes on to say, “West Wood is important to me because people of all experience levels and levels of fitness come together to better themselves, their lives and their health.” No matter where people are with their fitness, they’re greeted with kindness and an enthusiasm to help them along their journey.
